WEYMOUTH Doonan Wildcats' Conference
League meeting with the Redcar Cubs
was postponed because of heavy rain.
The Wildcats were due to take on the
Cubs at the Wessex Stadium on Saturday
night. Despite bad weather throughout
the day, the meeting was set to go ahead.
But a heavy downpour just an hour before
the start washed away any hopes of staging
the event, which was called off at around
6.30pm.
Wildcats' team manager Jem Dicken said:
"It was going to go ahead but then we
had a really bad shower and that killed
it really, we were totally flooded out.
We've rearranged the fixture for this
Saturday coming so we will see the Cubs
back here then. There was nobody outside
waiting to come in at the time we called
it off either."
Dicken's men currently sit fourth in
the table, occupying the final play-off
spot, with eight meetings still to complete.
