Wildcats – Press Release
David Mason is confident that the Wildcats
can add to the contents of their trophy
cabinet this season after signing his
contract for 2007. He was in Weymouth
visiting potential sponsors with Influx
Marketing’s Paul Oughton this week and
has high hopes for this season. David
who hails from Eastbourne said “This
year’s team is starting to take shape
and looks to be an exciting prospect.
It hasn’t been an easy task for Phil
to try and build a competitive team
as there seems to be plenty of reserve
and top end riders but not much available
in between”. He added “Although Plymouth
and Scunthorpe seem to be the names
on everybody’s lips for the League this
season, with Scunthorpe having several
team members doubling up it is by no
means a two horse race and I believe
we are in with a shout of getting our
hands on some silverware”.
Whilst on his visit to Weymouth, David
dropped into the Wessex Stadium and
cast his expert eye over the improvements
being made at the track. “Weymouth’s
track has been a topic of discussion
over the last couple of years but the
hard work that has gone into it over
the winter seems to be paying off already,
the drainage his been severely tested
over the last couple of days and looks
to be doing its job”.
David will be hoping 2007 starts better
than 2006 ended. Harley, David’s 2 year
old son was rushed into hospital over
Christmas with breathing difficulties
which then developed into pneumonia.
“He has made a full recovery now but
it was a very distressing time for all
of us, thankfully he is back to his
usual self running me ragged!”
Jem Dicken, Wildcats Team Manager is
delighted to have David back on board.
“He is a mentor to many of the younger
riders in the team and Pete, David’s
father and mechanic is never far away
when it comes to helping out in the
pits”. Jem also added “We will be signing
more team members over the next couple
of weeks and we believe the supporters
will be thrilled with the riders that
we have secured for 2007”.
