Weymouth newcomer Lee Smart claims it took just “a five minute phone call” to bring him back to the Wessex Stadium. The 18-year-old, who raced for rivals Plymouth last term, rejected a return to the St. Boniface Arena in favour of joining the Dorset club.
Smart also lines—up for Birmingham Bruminies in their Premier League renaissance this term. But the Swindon-based star was determined to double-up with Wildcats for what he believes is a critical year in his fledgling career.

The Weymouth Wildcats much anticipated return to action kicks off with the opening meeting of the USA Dream Team Tour on Friday 6th April. This will be the Dream Teams’ second visit to the Wessex Stadium. In 2005 the USA youngsters went down 56-37 to a strong Wildcats side in a meeting full of thrills and spills which saw Lewis Bridger make his debut scoring a paid maximum.

Weymouth starlet George Piper hailed the club’s winter track works as a huge reason for his return to the Wessex Stadium. The 15-year-old made his senior debut for the Dorset side in their Conference Shield campaign last term. Having been team mascot since the track opened in 2003, Piper has seen his racing career blossom at Radipole Lane. But the circuit’s ruts and humps have meant his speedway apprenticeship has been littered with hard knocks.

Weymouth Speedway are to host the first semi-final of the coveted Great Britain Under 21's Championship at the Wessex Stadium on the 13th April 2007. Sixteen of the UK's top young riders will fight it out for the top 5 places to qualify for the final at Eastbourne's Arlington track on Saturday 28th April.
